I am honored to be entering my 3rd year as principal of Person High School, a place that I called home as assistant principal from 2018-2021.

I was a NC Teaching Fellow and graduated from East Carolina University with a B.S. in Mathematics and from UNC-Chapel Hill with a Masters in School Administration. I have been in education for 21 years, 15 of those as a high school math teacher. In addition to being an assistant principal at PHS from 2018-2021, I was also the principal at Woodland Elementary School from 2021-2022. I look forward to working with the PHS staff, students, families, and community to take PHS to even greater heights. I am beyond excited to continue this journey with you!

I am excited to begin my adventure as a Person High School Rocket. Although you may recognize me from my time at North End Elementary or Southern Middle School, I am originally from DuBois, Pennsylvania, where I spent most of my childhood. I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree with dual majors in Early Childhood/Elementary Education from Clarion University of Education and my Master’s in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I have been married to my wife, Megan, for 13 years, and we have been blessed with three beautiful daughters - BrookeLynn, Bristol, and Maeleigh.

With over a decade in education, I come to you with a belief that all students can succeed and that relationships are key to their success. Appropriate planning, engaging instruction, and effective classroom management complement each other and prove pivotal for an educator’s success. A strong partnership between home, school, and the community will foster a well-rounded child, providing them with the necessary support system to take academic risks and meet growth and proficiency thresholds.

In 2001, I graduated from Wake Forest University with a Bachelor’s degree in Religion and double minors in German and History. After a brief tenure as a lateral entry teacher, I went back to school and earned my Master of Arts in Teaching at Duke University. Most recently, I earned my School Administrator’s license from High Point University.

Since 2004, I have served in a variety of roles as an educator including high school teacher, building-level instructional coach, district-level facilitator, and school-based administrator.

I am excited to join the faculty and staff at Person High School as an Assistant Principal! I look forward to getting to know, work with, and serve our faculty and staff, students, families, and community.
