Welcome to the 2023 edition of the Person County Schools’ Report Cards. School Performance Grades (A-F), as required by the state law, are included on the school-level Report Cards for our schools. The law requires this grade to be the calculation of student proficiency as 80 percent and academic growth as 20 percent. The NC Report Card includes important information about individual school performance, class sizes, attendance, school safety, instructional resources, and teacher quality. With the state grading system in place for schools, it is important to look at the entire report and talk with school staff members to clarify questions or gain understanding about the school. Our goal is for our parents and community members to learn more about our school system as a whole through the study of the State Report Card as well as other data provided on our district and school websites and social media outlets.

Person County Schools had 75% of schools earning letter grades of C or higher, while the district had 7 schools that met or exceeded expected growth expectations for the 2022-2023 school year. The four-year high school cohort graduation rate continues to be over 80%. Student performance shows that Person County Schools must continue to emphasize innovation and personalized learning to ensure continued progress for every student.

The Board of Education, administrators, and teachers are committed to improving scores and continuing to provide exceptional educational opportunities for every child. It is important to keep in mind that these results are not objectively comparable to previous years, given the many factors that have disrupted instruction throughout the past. As we move forward, we will continue to strive to meet our 2026 goal of all students meeting their expected targets.
