Person County Schools Virtual Academy Application 2024-2025

PCSVA is a free, public school that is part of the Person County Schools system and follows the traditional school calendar. Any student in grades 6-12 who currently resides in Person County is eligible to apply for the upcoming school year. Students who are homeschooled may also participate in up to two courses per semester as visiting students. The Virtual Academy offices are located on the 3rd floor of Person High School. Students will not be on a PCS campus during the school day unless asked to report to campus by the school officials. Students will be in person for district and/or state mandated assessments.

The Virtual Academy offers specific course offerings and programming that will require students and families to commit to receiving instruction in a non-traditional format. Students will need access to reliable internet services. The virtual learning environment presents unique opportunities that require the student, teacher, and family to work together to promote a positive learning experience and the application process supports this initial collaboration. Parents/Guardians are an important part of the educational process, especially in the virtual learning environment. Please be sure to read the important information outlined above regarding responsibilities and the timeline of the application process.

This application will provide you with an overview of expectations and commitments in addition to providing us with information about your child. Please note that students who are currently enrolled at PCSVA and their siblings will receive priority consideration. All students, both new and returning, must submit a completed application for the 2024-2025 academic year by 5:00pm on March 1, 2024.

If you have questions and/or concerns when completing this form, then please contact Dr. Tisha Duncan, principal, at duncant@person.k12.nc.us.
