Mr. Lucas Bernard, PCC Agribusiness Technology Instructor and Mr. Devin Paylor, PCC Student Recruiter and Advisor visited the PHS CTE Agricultural Education programs to demonstrate the agricultural Drone sprayer. Educating our students on the current industry based trends in agricultural production.

North Carolina State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Mo Green visited Northern Middle School today. He was given a tour of the classrooms by Student Ambassadors and then Mr. Dusty Martin, Principal, shared NMS highlights and plans for the upcoming school year. Dr. Rodney Peterson, Superintendent, also shared comments about Person County Schools. Several other elected officials joined the afternoon tour including: Senator Graig Meyer, North Carolina State Representative Ray Jeffers, Person County Commissioner Antoinetta Royster, PCS School Board Members Freda Tillman, Harriett Tillett, Margaret Bradsher, and Jason Torian. Jeff Hauser, representing Congressman Brad Knott, was also in attendance. We thank all of you for taking the time to visit Person County Schools and we appreciate your leadership, dedication, and commitment to ensuring all students have the best educational experiences possible.

Also at the PCS Board of Education Meeting, several teachers were recognized for successfully renewing their National Board Certification. Pictured are: Lynsey Hubbard (PCS Instructional Coach), Laura Grinstead (Teacher, Stories Creek Elementary), April Jo Revels (Teacher, South Elementary), and Tisha Duncan (Principal, PCS Virtual Academy). Not pictured: Chealsea Zimmerman (Teacher, Oak Lane Elementary). Additionally, Board Chair Freda Tillman received the NCSBA Award of Distinction and Margaret Bradsher earned the Silver Bell Award recognizing their extensive school board training completion during the 2023-2024 school year. Congratulations to all!

At the PCS Board of Education Meeting, the Person High School Basketball Team and Wrestling Team were recognized for their outstanding seasons. Basketball: 22-2 Regular Season Record, Central 3A Conference Champions, Central 3A Conference Tournament Champions, and 4th Round State Playoffs. All Tournament Team: Quante Bowman, Lance Clarke, Tyler Wilson All Conference Team: Quante Bowman, Lance Clarke, Tae Winstead All District Team: Quante Bowman and Lance Clarke Wrestling: 22-1 Regular Season Record, Central 3A Conference Champions, and 8 State Qualifiers All Conference Team: Ian Speight, Taveon Moss, Julian Combs, RJ Lyons, Jakobe Newman, Jameer Farmer, Easton McLain, Trevquan Gary 2 Time State Champion: Trevquan Gary Congratulations Rockets!!

PCS Virtual Academy is a free, public school that is part of the Person County Schools system and follows the traditional school calendar. Any student in grades 5-11 who currently resides in Person County is eligible to apply for the upcoming school year. This application will provide you with an overview of expectations and commitments in addition to providing us with information about your child. 2025-2026 enrollment is now open until March 14, 2025 .
