November is National Native American Heritage Month!


Piedmont Electric Cooperative has awarded 12 PCS educators Bright Ideas Grants totaling $15,981.00. These grants will fund engaging classroom projects for students.
Representatives from Piedmont Electric Cooperative visited South Elementary School this morning to deliver news of winning to three educators. Pictured are Hiedi Gustin, Elizabeth Sinnott, and Kristin Hernandez. Other district awardees are Kelly Pearce (Southern Middle School), Lauren Pool and Katy Watson (Stories Creek Elementary School), Pamela Parham (PCS Virtual Academy), Kristen Clayton and Melisa Poindexter (Oak Lane Elementary School), Heather Clarke (North Elementary School), and Dory Newkirk adn Melissa White (Helena Elementary School).
Congratulations to all of our Bright Ideas Grant Recipients and a huge thank you to Piedmont Electric Cooperative for your ongoing suport of the work we do for children in Person County Schools!




Allison Bowes is the PCS Exceptional Children Teacher of Excellence! Yesterday, Mrs. Bowes was recognized at NCDPI's 72nd Conference on Exceptional Children!
Mrs. Bowes has been an exemplary figure and a symbol of excellence in our district. As a member of the Autism Team, she has taken on a leadership role in providing support, guidance, and training to newly hired staff, as well as fellow Exceptional Children's Teachers and assistants. What distinguishes Allison from the rest and emphasizes her excellence is her unwavering dedication to the students of Person County. Allison's passion for her students and parents is evident in how she prioritizes their academic and functional needs.

National School Bus Safety Week


PCS students participated in the Annual MOLO Day at Mayo Park on Friday, October 13th! This event is sponsored by the Person County Recreation, Arts, and Parks Department. Students participated in fishing, a nature walk with PECIL students, and a hotdog lunch. Thank you to all the volunteers who made this event a success!

The Be Pro Be Proud Truck is at PHS! It is a custom-built exhibition trailer equipped with virtual reality technology to give middle and high school students hands-on experience with skilled professions within the construction, manufacturing, transportation, and utility industries. Announcement:
The Finance Committee Meeting of the Person County Board of Education is scheduled for Tuesday, September 19th, at 3:30 p.m. The meeting will take place in the Boardroom, located at 304 South Morgan Street, Room 25, Roxboro, NC. The meeting will be attended by district leadership and members of the board.

At the PCS Board of Education Meeting on Thursday, September 14th, Erin Redfern, teacher at South Elementary School and the Roxboro Housing Authority received Pride in Person Awards for their work on the Community Garden Project at Weatherly Heights. Mrs. Redfern has played an integral role in the development and upkeep of the garden and also educates families about healthy cooking and eating. The Roxboro Housing Authority was awarded the 2023 Human Service Award for their partnership in this endeavor. Thank you to all for your hard-word and dedication to the South Elementary School community.
