Good Evening Parents & Families, Thank you for your support of North! Today, students received hoodies with the North logo on the front. The hoodies are courtesy of local donors: Sharon Baptist Church, Kendrick's of Roxboro, Hyco Zion Baptist Church, and Long Memorial United Methodist Church. Also, this is a reminder that we will have Early Rease on Friday, December 15th at 12:45pm. Please make sure that an adult is available to meet students at the bus stop.

Bus 52 will be on time as normal. Please disregard the previous messae.

We're almost at the end of 2nd Semester or the mid-point of our school year! Students and teachers have been working EXTREMELY hard this year. We enjoy watching the students GROW everyday. Thanks for all that you do. Keep reminding your child to challenge himself/herself to do better each day (behavior, attitude, and academics). We're here for you! Grades will be finalized on December 15th. We will have our 2nd Nine Weeks Awards Celebration in January! Here are a FEW important reminders for this week: 1. The Musical Extravaganza will be at 1:00pm on Monday, 12/04/2023. This is the schedule for grade levels: 1:00pm-1:30pm--K-1 in the Gym 1:30pm-2:00pm--K-1 in the Book Fair 2:00pm-2:30pm--K-1 in the Classroom for Read Along 1:00pm-1:30pm--2-3 in the Book Fair 1:30pm-2:00pm--2-3 in the Classroom for Read Along 2:00pm-2:30pm--2-3 in the Gym 1:00pm-1:30pm--4-5 in the Classroom for Read Along 1:30pm-2:00pm--4-5 in the Gym 2:00pm-2:30pm--4-5 in the Book Fair 2. Fifth Grade will take their first Field Trip to Raleigh on Tuesday, December 5th. Students should wear red and arrive at school by 8:30am. The bus will leave promptly at 8:35am. They should return by 2:15pm. 3. The Book Fair will be open late on Wednesday, December 6th until 6:00pm. Santa will also be at North for pictures ($5/Picture). Anyone can attend this event! 4. Grades 2-5 will go to Palace Pointe on Friday. Grades 2-3 will leave by 8:35am. Grades 4-5 will leave by 8:50am. This is a FREE experience.

Please join us this evening at 6pm in the Gym for CAMP READ A LOT, our Literacy Program for Families! Enjoy a performance by the staff, a scavenger hunt, and FREE books, SNACKS, and lots of FUN! We will have drawing for a FREE tablet for a boy and a girl...you must be present to WIN.Also, school is closed tomorrow (11/10) in observance of Veterans' Day.

Students in GRADES 3-5 will begin taking NC CHECK INS this week. We have a BUSY month ahead! We will welcome parents and families to three engagement activities: 1. November 9 @ 6pm--Family Literacy Night--FREE BOOKS, SNACKS, READING, and FUN. The staff will showcase their talents, skills, and favorite books. 2. November 17 @ lunchtime--Parents/families who registered to attend the FAMILY MEAL will attend lunch with their scholars. At 12:30pm, parents and families will enjoy a DRAMATIC presentation in the gym with dramatist, Donna Washington. 3. November is National Native American Heritage Month!

Piedmont Electric Cooperative has awarded 12 PCS educators Bright Ideas Grants totaling $15,981.00. These grants will fund engaging classroom projects for students. Representatives from Piedmont Electric Cooperative visited South Elementary School this morning to deliver news of winning to three educators. Pictured are Hiedi Gustin, Elizabeth Sinnott, and Kristin Hernandez. Other district awardees are Kelly Pearce (Southern Middle School), Lauren Pool and Katy Watson (Stories Creek Elementary School), Pamela Parham (PCS Virtual Academy), Kristen Clayton and Melisa Poindexter (Oak Lane Elementary School), Heather Clarke (North Elementary School), and Dory Newkirk adn Melissa White (Helena Elementary School). Congratulations to all of our Bright Ideas Grant Recipients and a huge thank you to Piedmont Electric Cooperative for your ongoing suport of the work we do for children in Person County Schools!
